Reflecting on a Year

Happy Halloween (month)!

My first year with Granite State Music Therapy was better than I ever could have anticipated. After taking a major risk and moving halfway across the country for this job, I hit the ground running and haven’t looked back! For years, my goal was to practice music therapy full time and I can enthusiastically say at this time, that goal is being met!

To the families and communities I serve, thank you for welcoming me with open arms. I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to know you and support you on your journey. Without you, this dream would not be possible. There truly are no words to express the depths of my gratitude.

Not only was I welcomed by my clients and those who support them, but I was met with a team of incredible musicians and dedicated clinicians at Granite State Music Therapy! A massive thank you to my team for being who you are and creating a sense of belonging from day one.

New Hampshire is such a beautiful state! I feel blessed to have a job that allows me to see so much of it each week. Watching the leaves change as I drive in between sessions and seeing how different they look week to week is one of those “little things” for me. The scenery here never ceases to amaze me. All the mountains and rivers and lakes matched with an abundance of forest is absolutely what makes this place so unique. When I’m able, I take advantage of nature in whatever town I happen to be in. I love that there are walking trails, parks, and town forests everywhere. Some of my close friends can even tell you, I have a running series with them called “office views go crazy” and its photos of the different scenery I get to enjoy while completing notes and other types of typical “office” work for a music therapist. Now that I’ve spent a full calendar year here and had the magical experience of the seasons changing in New England, I can confidently say there is nowhere else like it. Especially if you love to hike and camp in your free time like I do! Even in the winter. Hiking in the snow is a challenge, but never fails to be astoundingly beautiful and peaceful. The snow absorbs so much sound!

Winter 2024

I wanted to reflect on my year in photos as well. I’ve taken at least a thousand in the last year. When you live somewhere so beautiful, it’s hard not to! Even the other night, I found myself in awe of the sunset as I drove home from my final session. As my drive went on and the sunset progressed, the clouds were illuminated in oranges, pinks, and yellows. It truly just never gets old.

Summer 2025

If you’ve been following along over the past year, you know I often create playlists for different holidays, seasons, and feelings. This blog is no different! Since it’s officially the fall in New England, I present to you Float Down Like Autumn Leaves. Bringing you classics like “Autumn Leaves” by Nat King Cole and “Great Pumpkin Waltz” from It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, this playlist also features newer hits like “Stick Season” by Noah Kahan and songs for kids like “Falling Leaf” by Stephanie Leavell. Enjoy everything this season has to offer!
