We’re Still Preparing…
Happy February!
I hope everyone is staying safe and warm in the serious winter weather we’ve been experiencing these last few weeks!! ☃️☃️☃️☃️☃️
I wanted to touch base with you about your new years intentions. How are you feeling? Take a moment to reflect. Are your goals still in alignment with your intentions? It’s okay if they’re not. We’re still in the hibernation season, a time for rest before we spring into action. This is not meant to make you feel bad, but rather serve as a check in. There is still time to prepare for your growing season. For now, this is the time to try and try again. To figure out what works so when the spring arrives, it’s already becoming second nature, and our intentions are already an embodiment of who we’re becoming.
Remember to practice gratitude often. Slow down, look around, and name something you’re grateful for. Reframe a negative situation to find the positives. There is always something positive even when we don’t immediately see it; slowing down gives us the opportunity to see it. For example, I’ve recently felt overwhelmed by how quickly my kitchen sink is full of dirty dishes that need washing. I find myself questioning how it’s possible for this to happen so quickly each time. The other day, in the middle of one of those moments, I stopped and looked around at my kitchen while saying to myself “Kelly, reframe it.” From there, I made verbal statements out loud like, “I am grateful for these dirty dishes because it means I nourished my body”, “I am grateful for these dirty dishes because it means I created something”, and “I am grateful for the space I have to wash these dishes.” I’m so serious when I say the task became infinitely easier to do when I approached it from a place of positivity and gratitude rather than grumbling my way through it. Unfortunately, the dishes are just one of those never ending chores, but approaching from a lighter space (“I am thankful for the ability to nourish my body”) makes it easier and (arguably) more enjoyable.
Personally, my biggest intention this year surrounds finding moments of peace and stopping to identify when I am feeling peaceful in the present moment. It’s definitely a skill I’m working on, but recently, I’ve noticed it becoming more second nature to me and that’s so exciting! The more we practice something, the easier and more automatic it becomes. I hope that these real life examples are helpful, relatable, and motivating for you! My goal is to express that I’m also trying to embody the ideas I share with you in this blog, and that we truly are in this together. In this post, all the photos I’ve included are small moments throughout the last few weeks where I’ve not only felt peace, but also joy, and stopped to snap a pic. I hope that you can find your glimmer in these dark days. I invite you to take a breath and know that the darkest days of the year are behind us! Longer and lighter days are to come. See you in March!
